The life of a puppet master…

Although we should put away childish things, some adults still conform to methods of untruth. Needless to say, sometimes this involves fractional truth: 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 = 1.

Fractional truth involves different sects of people that have partial knowledge: 1/3 is aware of one aspect; another 1/3 of people are aware of another segment of information and another 1/3 is aware of yet an additional segment of information. All managed by one individual controlling information with a fraction of the truth to different sects of people. The “one” controlling is the “one” in all parts. Each group has a fraction of the story, but the “one” knows its entirety. The lower number is that particular group; of course, that number can change. Now, it maybe that while engaging with one particular sect, it was truth, but when the person moves to another sect, then another truth arises. Truth…

Powerful aspect about access. I had to change the access code.

As a part of my faith practice, I always take time to reflect during this season of areas that God would have me to develop, and clean up in my life. I thought to share my lessons in my blog as they unfold.

As I was preparing to leave for worship service one morning, I gathered my tote and handbag. Clearly, I heard the spirit of the Lord tell me to snap-close my wallet. I thought it odd, because for years, I have never used the snap lever, just simply folded the wallet. I was a bit taken, but thought it was perhaps a preventive measure of loss. As I placed the items in my truck, clearly and sternly, I heard the spirit of the Lord instruct me to zip my handbag. Again, I typically use the handles, but not the lock or zipper features of the handbag. After worship…

This is excellent! You must read this!!!

In wrapping up the series on development, being teachable is a sensitive subject for many people. The mere idea of being described as non-teachable can be offensive and insulting to a person that protects their accomplishments. It poses a false, non-existent challenge in their minds regarding their success, endurance and achievements. The immediate reaction is to defend your position – posturing oneself as oppositional to the truth. In my earlier blog, I referenced my own situation in which I did not seek an understanding, but in response of being noted as non-teachable, I immediately defended my intentions and accomplishments. My behavior exemplified insecurities and using my accomplishments as a crutch in confrontation. What???? Yes, I used my accomplishments as a crutch in confrontation thus I was non-teachable. It was a great way of graciously displaying “I know it all” without saying it all.

How do you know if you are…

This just takes it to the next level. Excellent.

I think it is important to gain an understanding of commitment. The word has a 2-part meaning, but this portion emphasizes the essence of development: an engagement or obligation that restricts freedom of action. Engagement represents an agreement and obligation represents conviction. Therefore, our commitment involves the dynamic duo of agreement and conviction to hold us steady in times of trial and testing. As well, commitment provides stability and direction. Restrictions are not necessarily a negative in life, but they may serve as accountability and value points. Restrictions can rescue you from self-destruction depending upon one’s maturity and understanding of your personal boundaries. Commitment originates from our heart of faithfulness in our journey of purpose, life’s calling or ministry stead. Sometimes the challenges of personal development are grueling and ever so painful. In order to achieve success, commitment in crisis is vital.

There are many considerations in commitment and…

Transparency is mandatory in personal development. This has been a part of my own personal process; as well, I have observed the evolution of truth in the lives of others. Development in your purpose, ministry or life calling requires a track of transparency before written plans, or programs.

This is not always an easy portion for individuals that struggle with forms of accountability. Transparency requires clarity, and projection in one’s life and this can be difficult to handle. It requires that all segments of your life (not just one component) become an example of decision. One of the greatest lessons I have learned is never assume that transparency is understood by others. My negligence in assuming created pain in due process and hurt in the lives of others. More damage was done because transparency was not emphasized as crucial and many thought it was optional or partial was enough.

Great follow-up!

Although one may be well aware of what they were born to do, created to do, or called to do, we are not in ready form and this is where development is important but preceded by an important life phased called deliverance. Individuals that aspire to fulfill their purpose, ministry calling or dreams most often want to complete their life in excellence. First things first: deliverance before development.

It is easy to design a plan of success or track of development, but it will end with the casualty of the calling if deliverance is not first and foremost. I have witnessed too many times individuals that want to be successful, influential and powerful, but not delivered. Developing someone that is undelivered, lends to unexpected endings, abandonment and additional damage to the person.

Development to fulfill destiny should not be taken lightly. Impacting the lives of others with our own…

It is a new year with new opportunities to conquer ignorance

Earlier in the week, I had an opportunity to dialogue with a young, aspiring adult about their goals. The young woman desired to enter the entertainment and modeling industry. I inquired regarding her preparation for the path and she responded that she really did not need training, education or a coach because she watches television a lot. She had picked up model movements by watching television.

My initial reaction was that of a bull that beamed the color red for the charge, but instead, I listened to her plans. She could not share her plan of entry for career progression. She did not understand business strategies, financial planning/investment, and had no intentions on having a business consultant or manager. She was going to move forward from what she captured from viewing television programs, social media articles, and pictures. I…
